The joint C-TEC/IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology)’s ‘Celebration of Engineering’ day attracted a wealth of aspiring engineers keen to learn more about UK manufacturing.
Held at our Challenge Way Headquarters, the CPD-certified event gave delegates a unique insight into the 35-year history of C-TEC and its achievements alongside an overview of the IET’s mission to inspire, inform and influence the global engineering community.
Andrew Kaldos of the IET’s Manufacturing and Management Group (Mersey and Western Cheshire Network) and Andy Green, C-TEC’s Marketing Manager, introduced the speakers.
Andy Marshall, one of our Senior R&D Engineers presented ‘Virtual 3D Design backed up by physical testing and tooling’ – a timeline of the design, development and certification of a visual alarm device (VAD). Stuart Woolland, our Engineering Manager, highlighted how C-TEC’s manufacturing and testing processes have been revolutionised by investing in new software.
Delegates were also presented with ‘Fire Alarms: A brief history & the current state of the industry’ by Andy Green and an overview of how C-TEC’s EN54-23 certified visual alarm devices are designed to warn hard of hearing people in emergency situations by Brian Foster, our Northern Fire Account Manager.
Highlight of the day was a guided tour of our Challenge Way manufacturing facility. Delegates were invited to watch demonstrations of state-of-the-art JUKI surface mount machines placing components at an astonishing rate of 60,000 an hour and visit the training facilities where we train over 1000 engineers a year on C-TEC products.
At the end of the event, a networking session presented opportunities to ‘meet the speakers’, ask questions and discuss career opportunities at C-TEC.
Said Andy Green: “The joint C-TEC/IET ‘Celebration of Engineering Event’ proved very successful. We are very proud of C-TEC’s world-class manufacturing and training facility and welcomed the opportunity to showcase it to potential clients, industry partners and future employees.”
Added Andrew Kaldos: “The organisation of the event, venue and presentations was fantastic and the quality of the food and catering service was absolutely outstanding.”
