The Person and the Role

You will be an electronics engineer with good all-round firmware and hardware skills. You will be degree qualified or have an HND with significant experience.

Knowledge and application of fundamental electronics is essential. As well as designing your own solutions, you will peer review others and be involved in training and mentoring less experienced engineers.You will have demonstrable experience of as many of the following areas as you can tick:

• Mixed-signal electronics,
• C,
• IAR IDE or similar toolchain
• Middleware – Segger or similar,
• Microcontrollers, especially ARM based, e.g., Cortex M0, M3, M4, M33,
• Power management,
• Audio,
• Small signal,
• Serial communications,
• Sub-GHz RF,
• Simulation,
• Schematic capture,
• Appreciation of PCB design,
• Appreciation of mechanical design, • Prototyping,
• Bench testing,
• Fault finding,
• Project management,
• ATE, DFM, DFT, EMC, LVD, etc.

You will have an analytical and methodical approach to all aspects of your work. You will be able to synthesise solutions to problems and test them through simulation and practi- cal prototype.

You can expect to take technical ownership of a project from beginning to end, bringing in the support of colleagues as required. You will have sufficient confidence in your abilities and awareness of your limitations that you will be able to agree reasonable timescales and work to achieve them.

You will exercise your skills and experience to design and support new and existing products. You will be comfortable communicating with colleagues in all areas of the company and with customers and suppliers.

The Team

This is a technical role. With experience, you will become a product technical authority, responsible for the support, future development and sustaining of a product line. We encourage you to explore engineering novelty and express your technical creativity. Training is available, where appropriate.

The Location

C-TEC’s headquarters is in a purpose built factory in Wigan. However, the well-equipped R&D facility, also purpose built, is in leafy Mawdesley on the edge of West Lancs. Because of the remote location, own transportation is essential.

The location might be remote, but the job isn’t; you will be expected to work in the office for effective collaboration. Team members travel to Mawdesley from all over Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

Our facilities include a well-equipped lab, EMC chamber, anechoic chamber, environmen- tal test chamber and extensive mechanical workshop with CNC & industrial RP machines. If we have a genuine need for a piece of kit, we get it.
