AlertBuddy Deaf Person’s Alert Kit

  • A moveable deaf persons fire alarm alert system ideal for use at home, in hotel bedrooms and other residential settings.
  • Works by monitoring and listening to the ambient sound in a room and automatically detecting the presence of a fire alarm signal.
  • When a fire signal is detected, Alert Buddy will flash, emit a <1KHz low frequency tone (75dBa @ 1m) and activate a vibrating pillow pad (supplied).
  • The combination of light + sound + vibration helps maximise the chances of someone being alerted to a fire alarm even if they are sleeping.
  • The AlertBuddy unit can be wall mounted or will sit on top of a table.
  • Includes a BF325 AlertBuddy unit with combined Silence / Test button, a BF320 vibrating pillow pad and a plugtop charger.
  • Visual Alarm Indicator designed to the O Class requirements of EN54-23.
  • Complies with BS 5446-3 requirements.
  • BF325/K2 kit in a durable plastic carry case also available – click here for details.

More Information

AlertBuddy has been tested with a range of alarm sounder devices in multiple scenarios. There are many variables that must be taken into account including alarm sounder type, alarm sounder tone, alarm sounder position, AlertBuddy position and orientation, room dimensions and room furnishing. Before general deployment in a particular situation, AlertBuddy must be tested in that situation to ensure it will be effective in the case of a real alarm event.

The test is simple:

  1. Place AlertBuddy as it is intended to be used and power it up.
  2. Activate as a minimum the nearest alarm sounder device.
  3. Allow AlertBuddy to analyse the sound.
  4. If AlertBuddy recognises the sound as an alarm, its internal sounder and red indicator will activate. If the vibrating pad is connected, this will also activate.
  5. If AlertBuddy does not activate, try changing its position and orientation and again activate the nearest alarm sounder device.
  6. If AlertBuddy still does not activate, it may be that the alarm sounder type and/or alarm sounder tone is not compatible, or that the alarm sounder is too far away from the AlertBuddy. In this case, please contact our Technical Support team and have the following information ready: (a) Alarm sounder device type; (b) Alarm sounder tone; (c) The distance between the AlertBuddy and the Alarm sounder.
